orenda (n.)

a word rooted in iroquoian language and belief —
orenda speaks to the invisible force that lives within all things.
it is the spiritual energy that allows individuals, communities, and the natural world to influence change, shape reality, and move toward transformation.

unlike power as we often define it — orenda is not forceful, loud, or dominating.
it is quiet strength. sacred will.

a reminder that every being holds the potential to heal, to resist, to evolve.

a commitment to giving back

the name orenda is more than a brand — it’s a responsibility.
this word carries the weight of history, of land, of lineage.
it comes from the iroquoian language, and it speaks to a truth that’s always guided me: that healing is sacred, that power can be gentle, and that we are all capable of transforming our lives and our communities.

but orenda is not mine.
it belongs to the indigenous people who have held this wisdom long before me — and continue to carry it today.

this page exists to honor that truth.
to give back with intention.
to move in reciprocity, not extraction.

land acknowledgment

i live and work on the unceded land of the Lenape and Munsee Lenape peoples — communities with a deep, enduring relationship to this place.
they have lived, loved, gathered, and resisted here for generations, and continue to do so today.

this acknowledgment is not just a statement — it’s part of an ongoing commitment to honor indigenous presence, confront historical and ongoing harm, and show up in ways that are rooted in truth, learning, and action.
